Essex Post Office to close temporarily as it moves to new location

An Essex Post Office is set to relocate from its original Post Office building to a nearby, but different, location. Post Office is looking to relocate Ingatestone Post Office to a new location at Ingatestone Library.

The current branch at High Street, Ingatestone, is operated on Post Office’s behalf by a temporary postmaster. Whilst this arrangement has enabled Post Office to maintain access to Post Office services to their customers in the area, they have been looking for a permanent solution.

Post Office is pleased to confirm that the spouse of the current temporary postmaster has been appointed Postmaster, and together they will continue to operate the Post Office on a permanent basis from its new location at Ingatestone Library.

The current Ingatestone Post Office branch is to close on Thursday March 12 at 5pm and is scheduled to re-open at the nearby library on Friday March 13 at 1pm. There will be one serving point.

The new opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 9am – 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am – 12.30pm. This is later closing on weekdays than currently.

The new premises has its own dedicated customer carpark with disabled parking available. Services will include cash and cheque deposits on behalf of the high street banks, cash withdrawals, balances and bill payments.

As well as Royal Mail and Parcelforce services there is DPD drop off and collections. Euros and Dollars are available on demand and people can get Post Office Travel Money services.

A spokesperson from Post Office shared: “Our priority is to safeguard Post Office services in the longer term, and the relocation of this branch will enable us to maintain Post Office service to the local community.”
