Royal Mail has apologised for disruption affecting 146 postcodes across the UK, with delays caused by sick absence, resourcing issues and other local factors
Royal Mail has issued a warning to residents in certain postcodes in Wales that letters and parcels are experiencing delays. The postal service usually strives to deliver to all addresses six days a week.
However, the firm has admitted that some areas across the UK are struggling to maintain this service level due to issues such as “high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors”.
Royal Mail explained: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”
The delivery service went on to say: “We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
Offering an apology for the disruption, it added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
The firm refreshes its register of affected postcodes on their website daily, reports the Mirror.
Currently, 146 postcodes across the country are facing disruption, covering 10 areas across Wales including Barry, Aberdare and Pontypridd.
Apart from these particular delays, Royal Mail confirms that its air and road transport networks remain operational and running to schedule.
The company also states that all mail was processed and sent out as intended at sorting centres over the past 24 hours.
Currently, six distribution centres in Wales are experiencing delays, which is creating a knock-on effect on postcodes in the surrounding areas.
