Royal Mail has warned that 44 UK postcodes are experiencing delays, including Glasgow
Royal Mail has issued a warning to residents in Glasgow postcodes that their mail deliveries may be delayed. The postal service typically delivers letters and parcels six days a week nationwide.
However, the company has acknowledged ongoing disruptions affecting several areas across its network. A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
The postal service provides daily updates to customers regarding potential delays. As of Tuesday, February 24, 18 Royal Mail delivery offices are experiencing disruptions, reports the Mirror.
The affected sites are spread throughout the UK, with locations including Cardiff, Pontefract, Lochgelly and Lisburn.
These delivery office issues mean that 44 UK postcodes are currently experiencing delivery delays.
While the air network has operated on schedule over the past 24 hours, problems with the road network are affecting Glasgow.
Royal Mail stated: “Last night, a vehicle was late departing the Midlands Parcel Hub for Preston and Glasgow Mail Centres.
“As a result, some mail due for delivery in the BB, FY, LA, PR, G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas may arrive later than planned.”
Meanwhile, Bristol Mail Centre has been affected, with some post sent from parts of the BA, BS, GL and TA postcode areas – destined for delivery across other regions of the UK – experiencing hold-ups.
