Following her uncle-in-law Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on February 19, Catherine, Princess of Wales, appears to have adopted a more considered approach to her wardrobe.

Instead of debuting new-season pieces, Kate has opted for trusted favourites, rewearing coats, blouses and dresses – some dating back as far as seven years – across her four subsequent public engagements. 

According to fashion stylist Lisa Talbot, the choice feels ‘very intentional’. 

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she explained: ‘Rewearing subtly communicates steadiness and humility. It signals continuity, responsibility and respect for the moment. In situations where public sensitivity is heightened, the most powerful style statement can often be restraint.’ 

She added: ‘At times when the wider Royal Family is under scrutiny, clothing becomes less about fashion and more about message.

‘By choosing familiar pieces from her existing wardrobe, she removes any distraction and keeps the focus on her role and her work rather than what she’s wearing.’ 

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested by Thames Valley Police on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office and held in custody following a raid on his new home in Sandringham.

William, however, hinted at the emotional weight of recent events, admitting he had not yet watched Best Picture nominee Hamnet. 

Speaking on the red carpet, he said: ‘I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it.’ 

He added that Catherine had watched the film the night before and had been left in ‘floods of tears’.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his 66th birthday and held in custody after a raid on his new Sandringham home.

Thames Valley Police held the eighth in line to the British throne on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The Daily Mail was the first to reveal that plain-clothes police in six unmarked vehicles had arrived at Wood Farm, where Andrew now lives, at 8am on February 19.

A convoy including at least two royal Land Rovers linked to Andrew was photographed leaving the estate less than an hour later. His arrest was confirmed at 10.08am.

In the ten days leading up to his arrest, detectives had been probing Andrew’s conduct as a trade envoy for the UK after emails in the Epstein Files suggested he shared confidential information with his paedophile friend, including reports of his official visits and potential investment opportunities.

At the time, Thames Valley Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said: ‘Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office.

‘It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence.

‘We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.’
