Fisherman’s Walk Bandstand in Bournemouth reopens to public

Fisherman’s Walk Bandstand was temporarily fenced off after an inspection by building surveyors and external contractors identified issues requiring attention.

The bandstand is now back in use thanks to the efforts of BCP Councillor Eleanor Connolly and the local community.

Labour Councillor Eleanor Connolly of Boscombe East and Pokesdown said: “The damaged guttering has been removed, and I am pleased to confirm that the bandstand is safe for the community to enjoy.

“Fencing has been removed and while longer-term discussions about a renovation must happen, it’s brilliant news that our bandstand will be back in use for Spring and Summer activities.”

The site became unavailable after an inspection identified safety issues.

Tom Hayes, Labour MP for Bournemouth East, said: “I’m delighted by the good news about this much-loved bandstand.

“My thanks go to Councillor Eleanor Connolly and the wonderful local community she worked with to secure repairs.

“We’ll continue to seek the full renovation that is still needed and the funding which this will entail.”
