Royal Mail delivery disruption in Cambridgeshire postcodes today — full list

Homes and businesses across Cambridgeshire are impacted.

Royal Mail’s delivery delays continue as 29 UK postcodes face disruption today, including in Cambridgeshire. Households throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have experienced postal setbacks.

Delays have continued throughout this week, and as of Friday, March 27, there are holdups affecting 29 postcode areas. Nationwide, 14 Royal Mail sorting centres have reported delays in locations including Huntingdon and Orton Southgate.

Royal Mail has also reported disruptions across its air and road network over the past 24 hours. A flight transporting mail from the East Midlands to Prestwick was forced to turn back to East Midlands Airport owing to adverse weather conditions.

The company explained: “As a result, some mail posted in parts of the Midlands, South West, North of England and Northern Ireland, for delivery in Central and Southern Scotland may arrive later than planned.”

A vehicle transporting mail from Glasgow to the Midlands Parcel hub was delayed, meaning some deliveries will be affected, reports the Mirror.

“As a result, some mail posted in parts of the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas, for delivery in parts of London and the South East, the South West, the Midlands and Northern Ireland may arrive later than planned,” Royal Mail said.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

Royal Mail added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The postal service has attracted criticism over its late deliveries, with owner Daniel Kretinsky telling to MPs: “Of course I am deeply sorry for any letters that arrive late.” Nevertheless, this week he refuted suggestions that Royal Mail’s performance for late letter arrivals was worsening.

Addressing the Commons Business select committee, Mr Kretinsky said: “It is not perfect, but it is not catastrophic.” Last October, Royal Mail received a £21million fine for failing to meet First and Second Class delivery standards in its previous financial year.

Only 77% of First Class post and 92.5% of Second Class were delivered on time in its 2024-25 financial year, falling short of its respective 93% and 98.5% targets.

Customers are also facing a stamp price rise next month as First Class stamps will increase to £1.80 and Second Class to 91p. The change takes effect from April 6. In 2020, the cost of a First Class stamp stood at 76p.
