Royal Mail delivery disruption alert issued for 29 UK postcodes today — full list

Many households won’t receive their mail on time.

Royal Mail’s delivery delays continue as 29 UK postcodes are affected today. Homes and businesses across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been impacted by postal delays.

The delivery firm has faced criticism over its late deliveries, with owner Daniel Kretinsky telling MPs: “Of course I am deeply sorry for any letters that arrive late.” However, this week he denied Royal Mail’s track record for letters arriving late was deteriorating.

Speaking to the Commons Business select committee, Mr Kretinsky said: “It is not perfect, but it is not catastrophic.” Last October, Royal Mail was handed a £21million fine for missing First and Second Class delivery targets in its last financial year.

Just 77% of First Class mail and 92.5% of Second Class were delivered on time in its 2024-25 financial year. It is short of its respective 93% and 98.5% targets.

Customers are also being hit with a stamp price increase next month as First Class stamps will go to £1.80 and Second Class to 91p. The change comes into effect from April 6. In 2020, the price of a First Class stamp was 76p.

Delays have continued throughout this week, and as of Friday, March 27, there are delays impacting 29 postcode areas. Across the UK, 14 Royal Mail delivery offices have reported delays in areas including Birmingham, Luton and Ilfracombe.

Royal Mail has also reported problems on its air and road network from the last 24 hours. A flight carrying mail from the East Midlands to Prestwick had to return to East Midlands Airport due to adverse weather.

The firm explained: “As a result, some mail posted in parts of the Midlands, South West, North of England and Northern Ireland, for delivery in Central and Southern Scotland may arrive later than planned.”

A vehicle carrying mail from Glasgow to the Midlands Parcel hub arrived later than planned, so some deliveries will be impacted.

“As a result, some mail posted in parts of the G, KA, ML and PA postcode areas, for delivery in parts of London and the South East, the South West, the Midlands and Northern Ireland may arrive later than planned,” Royal Mail said.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

Royal Mail added: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
