Carpenter, takeaway and plastic surgeon among 15 named and shamed in Birmingham over taxes

One Birmingham business owes the taxman an eye-watering £87 million

No-one likes paying tax – but some individuals and businesses take it to extremes.

In Birmingham, 15 individuals and businesses have been named and shamed by the taxman for “deliberately defaulting” on bills of more than £25,000.

They include a takeaway, newsagent, consultant plastic surgeon and car sales company.

The city firm with the biggest tax debt, a management consultancy, owed an astonishing £87.4 million between February 1, 2019 and January 31, 2024.

Kevin Hubbard, HMRC’s director of individuals and small business compliance, said: “We are actively tackling tax non-compliance among high street businesses across the UK, and today’s naming’s show we will act wherever we find it.

“Everyone on this list had the opportunity to come forward to make a full disclosure – and didn’t. HMRC will always pursue those who deliberately refuse to pay what they owe.”

Here is the list of deliberate tax defaulters in Birmingham…

DKX Limited

The product repair company of Holyhead Road, Birmingham, B321 0LH, owed tax of £423,537.51 between the periods of 30 April 2024 to May 31 2024 and 13 October 2024 to October 22. They were given a penalty of £296,476.25

64 Simon Kitchen Limited (formerly trading as ‘Simon’s Chop Suey House’)

The takeaway of Floor 5, Scala House, 36 Holloway Circus, Queensway, Birmingham, B1 1EQ, owed tax of £68,367.4 between February 2023 to 31 July 2024 and was given a penalty of £47,721.79.

Mohanampal Sutharsan (formerly trading as ‘Subi Supermarket’)

The retail sales company, formerly of Revesby Walk, Nechells, Birmingham, B7 4LG, owed tax of £508,467 between 1 Feb 2017 to May 31 2024 and was given a penalty of £387,721.20.

Carl Russel Jobe

The car sales and accessories company, formerly of 11 Melville Hall, Holly Road, Edgbaston, B16 9NJ, owed tax of £57,212.97 between April 6 2010 to April 5 2015 and was given a penalty of £29,321.62.

Michael Anthony Bourke

The carpenter, of 24 Wimperis Way, Birmingham, B43 7DD, owed tax of £32,543.41 between April 6 2018 to April 5 2025 and was given a penalty of £14,807.22.

Ronaldo Julian Siretean

The labourer, formerly of 238B Warwick Road, Birmingham, B11 2ND owed tax of £27,069.10 between April 6 2021 to April 5 2022 and was given a penalty of £18,474.66.

10442565 Ltd (formerly known as ‘Hive 360 Employer Limited’)

The management consultancy, formerly of Third Floor, 8 Harborne Road, Birmingham, B15 3AA and 55 Princes Gate, London, SW7 2PN owed tax of £87,497,009 between 1 Feb 2019 to Jan 31 2024. The company was given a penalty of £56,873,055.85.

Aces Logistics Ltd

The freight delivery company of Bromford Road, Birmingham, B36 8H, owed tax of £1,869,351 between April 1 2022 to March 31 2023 and was given a penalty of £1,308,545.70.

Crest Convenience Store Ltd

The newsagent formerly of 1 The Crest, Alvechurch Road, Birmingham, B31 3PZ, owed tax of £598,643.74 between April 6 2010 to April 5 2019 and was given a penalty of £314,287.83.

Send Money India Limited

The money service company owed tax of £37,597.67 between August 1 2014 to July 31 2020 and was given a penalty of £16,448.95.

Gabriel Stan

The glazing company of Albert Road, Erdington, Birmingham, B23 7LT and formerly of 235 Oxhill Road, Birmingham, B21 8HA, owed tax of £25,532.89 between April 6 2022 to April 5 2024 and was given a penalty of £16,532.53.

Only Best Limited

The payroll service company of Suite 2A, Blackthorn House, St Pauls Square, Birmingham, B3 1RL, owed tax of £974,819 between February 1 2024 to April 30 2024 and was given a penalty of £580,017.30.

13406346 Ltd (formerly known as ‘VRGP Solutions Ltd’ and ‘Consultancy Masters Ltd’)

The management consultants, formerly of 8th Floor (West Wing) 54 Hagley Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B16 8PE, owed tax of £578,979 between July 1 2022 to 24 May 2023 and was given a penalty of £395,153.15.

Mall Recruitment Ltd (formerly known as ‘Tecbuyer Ltd’)

The recruitment consultants of Fairgate House, 205 Kings Road, Tyseley, Birmingham, B11 2AA and formerly of 622 Shirley Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28 9LB, owed tax of £146,770.51 between September 1 2018 to Aug 31 2022 and was given a penalty of £137,964.26.

Mabroor Ahmed Bhatty

The consultant plastic surgeon of 5 Chester Road, Erdington, Birmingham, B24 0BX, owed tax of £39,863,80 between April 6 2014 to April 5 2015 and was given a penalty of £18,138.02.
