Jeremy Wise scored 12 first-half points to help Southern Miss take a 27-19 halftime lead on Rice in the opening round of C-USA tournament at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. R. L. Horton added a pair of 3-pointers for the Golden Eagles, who shot 34 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
