Some college students will be cut off from food stamps

In April, the state no longer will allow as many as 20,000 college students to qualify for food stamps just because they’re in school, not because they’re in need. State Department of Human Services Director Maura Corrigan said Wednesday that the Bridge card program — a debit card used as food stamps — will allow college students who qualify for other reasons only.
