From Queen Victoria and Albert, Diana and Charles to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, we’ve compiled a timeline of Royal Wedding portraits from around the world.
Some of the most notable include the 1840 marriage of Queen Victoria and Albert, who had a wedding cake measuring nine feet tall by 16 inches wide, according to author and historian Kate Williams.
Queen Elizabeth’s wedding to Prince Philip was held on on November 20, 1947 at Westminster Abbey in front of 2,000 guests – and they went on to have one of the longest royal marriages of all.
Then came one of the most glamorous weddings of all time – between American actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III of Monaco.
Princess Grace’s veil was made up of 90 yards of tulle and had been crafted to ensure that her face would not be obscured from cameras. Her shoes and Juliet cap were decorated with pearls.
Her wedding dress was so exquisite that it took 36 seamstresses three weeks to make, and so beautiful that guests gasped out loud.
