A look back at the year 1994 in Cumbria

For this Nostalgia edition we will be taking a look back at the year 1994.

As strange as it may seem for some of you we are now almost 30 years on from this time and quite a lot has changed.

Here at the News & Star we wanted to take you on a trip down memory lane and show you what life was like for us Cumbrians at this time.

We’ve selected some of the most interesting photos from our archives to give you a glimpse into life some 28 years ago.

For some of you, you may not be able to remember this year at all; whilst for others it will hopefully create some very fond memories.

Let us know if you are in any of the photos or know who is.

Our first photo shows Donna Wenn with Carlisle United players David Reeves and Simon Davey looking through entries for Name The Restaurant competition.

We can also see a parade for the Normandy Veterans Association dedication of new flag in Keswick. Whilst another photo shows some children enjoying the snow in the winter at Caldbeck.

One rather interesting photo shows a dog enjoying a flooded area whilst playing in Rickerby Park in Carlisle. With another photo showing mayor Prewitt visiting the Royal Mail sorting office.

One lovely photograph shows Asda Mum Of The Year Dorothy Moor with son Barry and daughter Dianne. Whilst another photo shows Belah School pupils Anne Marie Waite and Simon Clarke with PC Chris Noble and newly hatched chicks.

Our final photos show a visit by HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne to Carlisle in February 1994 where she can be seen greeting an onlooker.

We hope that you have enjoyed looking back at these photos as much as we have.
