Lime Grove will be closed off to all drivers each day between 8.15 and 9.15am and 2.30 and 3.30pm.
It’s to limit traffic at peak times around Christ Church Primary School.
The only exceptions are for resident permit holders, Royal Mail and the emergency services.
Tradespeople, taxis and the general public will not be permitted to use the road during those timers.
This is something which has caused concern from residents in nearby roads who claim they weren’t told about the scheme beforehand.
They say more traffic will be funnelled through other Groves as a result due to another school nearby, the station and a level crossing.
Kingston currently has 10 school streets in action across the borough.
The authority says each school street scheme is trialled through Experimental Traffic Management Orders (ETMO) which allows councils to run consultation alongside the trial periods before they are made permanent or removed.
The school street schemes are not feasible for every school location and so, it is important to note that these schemes are initially run as trials.
We understand that the Lime Grove scheme has been delayed until November and we have contacted Kingston Council for confirmation.
The council says that if you have any comments, whether good or bad on permanent school streets, or any questions or issues you can call them on 0208 547 5000 or email schoolstreets@kingston.gov.uk.
