A30 crash near Truro at Chybucca Royal Mail driver injured

Paul Harris, aged 69, of Germoe near Penzance was uninjured in the accident on the A30 at Chybucca, Cornwall on August 25, 2023.

Harris appeared before Truro magistrates on Friday (June 6) after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving on February 3.

The case was adjourned until June 6 for a pre-sentence report to be made and to consider if there are special reasons for not ordering an endorsement or disqualification.

The court heard that Harris was driving a Bateman crop sprayer on the A30 at Chybucca on August 25, 2023, when it collided with the Post Office truck.

A man in his 40s was hospitalised with serious injuries following the crash on the A30. The crash involved a red Royal Mail truck and a red Bateman agricultural crop sprayer at around 8.10pm on Friday, August 25.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the incident on a junction of the A30 at Chybucca and the B3284 leading towards Shortlanesend.

Harris was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £480 and ordered to pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85 and a victim surcharge of £192.
