AC/DC are being honoured by Royal Mail with a set of 12 special stamps.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the rock legends’ first studio album ‘High Voltage’, the collection boasts eight photos capturing AC/DC in their imperious live glory.

Three of the live images dating from 1976 to 1979 are from the Bon Scott era, with the late-great vocalist appearing on two on the stamps, while the remaining are from 1986 to 2023 during Brian Johnson’s ongoing tenure with AC/DC.

A further four stamps presented in a miniature sheet feature the covers of four AC/DC albums including their 1975 debut album ‘High Voltage’, which was released in Australia and New Zealand only.

The other albums are ‘Highway To Hell,’ their sixth studio album released in 1979; ‘Back In Black,’ the biggest-selling rock album of all time, and ‘Power Up,’ AC/DC’s triumphant return in 2020.

The stamps in the miniature sheet are set against a design taken from their album Black Ice.

Royal Mail’s honour comes on the same week AC/DC announced a summer 2024 European tour, including a very special concert at Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium on Thursday 21st August.

David Gold, Royal Mail’s director of external affairs and policy, said: “AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Over the past half-century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us Back in Black – the biggest-selling rock album of all time.

“These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music.”

Available to pre-order on Royal Mail’s official website, the stamps are released on Tuesday 18th February 2025.

AC/DC become the seventh rock band to feature in a dedicated Royal Mail stamp issue, following on from The Beatles in 2007, Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen in 2020, The Rolling Stones in 2022, Iron Maiden in 2023, and The Who in 2024.
