Australian rock group AC/DC will be honoured with a set of 12 official stamps by the Royal Mail to mark the 50th anniversary of their classic album, High Voltage.
The stamps, which will go on sale on February 18th in the UK, will depict the band in live performances, as well as there being four that feature the covers of classic albums from the band, including High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Back in Black and Power Up.
David Gold, the director of external affairs and policy for Royal Mail, said in a statement: “AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Over the past half-century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us Back In Black – the biggest-selling rock album of all time.”
He continued: “These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music.”
AC/DC are the first non-British act to receive this treatment of a stamp range, and are the eighth group overall to have their own dedicated stamps supplied by the Royal Mail. Last year, The Who were honoured with their own set of commemorative stamps to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the group, while other acts such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd have also had their own ranges.
The band recently announced a string of European live performances for 2025, which will see them play a total of 12 shows in 10 different countries. Tickets for their upcoming European tour went on general sale today.
The band will also commence a North American tour which will commence in Minneapolis on April 10th, which will be the first of 13 shows on the continent.
