The actor who plays Prince Harry in royal parody The Windsors has told how his character has turned from a pint-sinking rugby player to a ‘smoothie-drinking yoga king’.

British star Tom Durant-Pritchard, 32, makes his debut in the Channel 4 show as it returns for its third series tonight, taking up the mantle from Richard Goulding, who played a laddish version of the Duke of Sussex in the first two series.

But audiences will now be introduced to a new, wholesome side of Harry as he settles into life with wife Meghan Markle.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he recalled a scene where Harry turns his back on a party: ‘He gets asked if he wants to stay and get s—faced in a bar, and his immediate reaction is “yah”– and then the process happens… “No, got to go home, family, Meghan, yoga”…’

He added: ‘Harry’s now a wannabe yoga king, smoothie drinking, namaste…’

The show began back in 2016 with writing duo George Jeffrie and Bert Tyler-Moore creating parodies of all the key members of the family – apart from the Queen and Prince Philip.

‘I think from the beginning everyone thought the Queen’s so loved and respected and doesn’t do much wrong that it was best to steer clear,’ Bert explained in an interview with Weekend Magazine.

‘There’s not much to take the mickey out of, whereas with the others there’s plenty.’

Series three follows on from the Harry and Meghan royal wedding special in 2018, and sees the couple adjusting to life as new parents with Harry trying to stick to Meghan’s clean-living ways.

Prince Harry and Meghan also move to North America – a bold prediction made by George and Bert last year, months before ‘Megxit’.

Speaking to Weekend Magazine, Bert said: ‘Oddly, we predicted a move to America for Meghan and Harry so it’s almost like events are playing out exactly as we prophesied.

‘We saw there was a feud brewing and that there was a bit of unhappiness there, so we thought that might be the upshot of it.’

The Windsors airs at 9pm tonight on Channel 4.
