The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has revealed the speaker line-up for its first-ever annual conference, which will address key operational issues with EV charging and deployment.
Taking place at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon on 18 May, the event will feature speakers including David Fisher of Virgin Media O2, Charlie Gilbert of Field Dynamics, Matt Hammond of Altrad, AFP chair Paul Hollick and Colin Hutt of Clarion Housing.
The line-up also includes Stuart Murphy of Royal Mail, Lee Jackson of Marston Holdings, Steve Openshaw of Eric Wright, James Rooney of Centrica, Stewart Taylor of Police Scotland and Duncan Webb of ISS. More speakers will also be announced shortly.
Topics under focus include ‘EV Charging Infrastructure’, which will look at EV hardware and software solutions for fleets, and a ‘The Trouble with Vans’ panel session covering the issues fleets are facing when deploying electric vans.
Other challenges being tackled include ‘Kerbside Charging Activities’, which will present data gathered by the AFP from the UK’s top 20 fleets, a look at ‘Delivering a Smart EV Highway Charging Solution for Your Vehicles’ with data and telematics, and a talk on ‘Salary Sacrifice Deployment’. Event sponsors Allstar Business Solutions and Mina will also present sessions.
The conference marks the first time the AFP has held an event of this kind; the industry body was formed from the merger of ACFO and ICFM in March 2020, just prior to the pandemic starting.
Chair Paul Hollick explained: “The AFP finds itself in the unusual position of being a major industry body that has never been able to provide its members with the opportunity to all meet in the same room, so we are very excited about the conference.
“Not only will it be a chance for fleet managers to get together, network and swap best practice ideas, but the speakers we have been able to secure so far are among the most knowledgeable in our sector.
“We’re concentrating on EV (electric vehicle) adoption and operation as our subject area because it is the overriding fleet topic of the moment and we are sure that anyone who attends the conference will learn a wealth of useful information.”
The event is only open to AFP members. For more details and registrations, click here.
