Air ambulance lands for motorbike crash on A361 near Highworth

UPDATE: Biker sustains life-changing injuries in crash with Royal Mail lorry


An air ambulance has landed for a motorbike crash on the A361 near Highworth.

Emergency services were called to the busy route, which links to town with Lechlade, at around 12.45pm this afternoon (Monday).

999 crews, including critical care medics from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, are providing treatment to a biker with serious injuries.

It’s understood the casualty will be airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol shortly.

The motorbike impacted a van. The occupants of the van are not thought to have been seriously hurt.

The road is expected to remain closed in both directions for several hours.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “There has been a serious collision on the A361, Highworth involving a van and a motorcyclist.

“Please seek alternative routes while emergency services attend.”
