Aldi’s £8 bottle of fizz is wine expert’s pick for Christmas if you can find it in stock

Wine expert Tom Gilbey uncorked three budget bottles of sparkling wine this week, with one discount supermarket tipple reigning supreme.

Tom, who has nearly 100,000 followers on TikTok, is known for his honest wine reviews. In a recent video, the wine professional gave a glowing thumbs-up to a budget-friendly gem from Aldi that is likely to fly off the shelves this Christmas.

The expert gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up to Aldi’s Cremant from France. Described by the wine guru as an “absolute banger,” the tasty tipple is currently on offer, reduced from £10.99 to just £8.19 until December, 31.

According to the expert, the budget supermarket offering outperformed against a similarly priced Prosecco and Graham Beck’s South African sparkler.

Tom took to TikTok saying: “I got let out today with 13 quid and I have got a beautiful baby from South Africa, a Cremant from France and a Prosecco.”

After a less than impressive sip of Prosecco, he eagerly jumped to the Aldi Crémant, sharing joyfully: “In with the Cremant from Jura. It’s so zippy. It reminds me of being in the mountains.”

Following a generous taste and with a beaming grin, he declared: “Hundred percent chardonnay. Absolute banger.”

The Cremant Du Jura is a ‘banging’ alternative to more expensive bottles of plonk this Christmas

While the last tipple to tickle his taste buds is the South African wine, the expert resolute resolute about his choice of favourite.

Tom concluded: “This one is an absolute banger. Crémant Du Jura. So my shout for Christmas go to Crémant.”

The sparkling vintage Chardonnay from France is out of stock on the Aldi website, but it you can find in your local store, it’s an absolute Christmas cracker at just £8.19.

Fans of the wine flocked to the comments, with one saying: “I clear the shelves of that Cremant when it’s in stock! Delicious for the price…” whilst another begged: “Please don’t tell people about Jura”

A third wrote: “I get every Aldi recommendation and he’s not steered me wrong yet” Meanwhile, others gave their own recommendation: “I don’t care what anyone says. It’s all about martini asti spumante for Xmas! £6.50 using a club card at Tesco”
