An Post and Royal Mail team up for first ever collaboration in honour of Jack Charlton

An Post and Royal Mail will come together for a special postmark in honour of Jack Charlton – the first time the two have collaborated.

The country has united in grief since the passing of legendary sporting icon Jack Charlton last week, with fans across Ireland and the UK coming together to pay tribute to the former World Cup player.

Friends and family have remembered Big Jack through fond stories, while members of the Dáil stood for a standing ovation in his honour and one Dublin team unveiled a lovely mural of him alongside the words ‘Put ’em under pressure’.

Also wanting to commemorate Charlton, An Post and Royal Mail have confirmed that they’ll team up for a special commemoration postmark. The first time the two will collaborate on a project, it seems only right given that Charlton was such a huge part of both Irish and English sporting history.

All post across Ireland and the UK will be stamped with a football and the words ‘Jack Charlton, 1935-2020’ for three weeks – from today until Sunday, August 9th.

Describing Charlton as a “football hero”, according to David McRedmond CEO at An Post, the collaboration is a fitting tribute to one of the greats.

“Jack Charlton will always have a special place in the hearts and minds of Irish people. He gave our nation many of our happiest and proudest moments.”
