Appeal after ‘dog walker threatened by man with shard of glass wrapped in tape’

CCTV images have been released

A dog walker was threatened by a man said by police to have been holding a shard of glass wrapped up in tape. Police said a group of men ‘managed to fend off the suspect’ and he fled.

CCTV images have now been released as police issue an urgent appeal in a bid to put a name to the face.

Officers have confirmed they want to speak with the man in the images revealed in relation to the incident in the Winterford Road area of Manchester, near Cheetham Hill, on September 11.

In a statement issued on Sunday, GMP said: “At around 7.10pm on Thursday 11 September 2025, a man was walking his dog in Bellott Street dog park when he was approached by a man acting suspiciously.

“Concerned for his safety, the victim contacted his son, who, along with a friend, came to assist. The unknown man is believed to have followed the group back towards Winterford Road, where verbal threats were made.

“The man is then seen on CCTV holding a shard of glass wrapped in tape and shouting threatening remarks. The group managed to fend off the suspect, who then left the area.”

Police said the area was searched, but the suspect wasn’t found. The man involved, said police, was last seen near Lanbury Drive, Cheetham Hill.
