The Queen’s Jubilee holiday has caused much confusion around opening times with most shops and businesses altering their hours around the events.
This extended bank holiday also means the Post Office will be closed for two days starting on Thursday, June 2nd. The Royal Mail website states “we don’t usually deliver or collect on bank and public holidays” and provides a full list of times.

What to expect from the rest of the Jubilee weekend
As the nation enjoys the long weekend, Post Office and admin workers are set to strike starting from Saturday, June 4th. The strike will impact Crown Post Offices rather than those owned by third parties. It is aimed to cause the most disruption at a time that is least likely to impact employee pay.
The CWU is demanding a backdated pay rise for the work during the pandemic, the strike is backed nationally by 97.3% of CWU members and expects a large turnout of 70%.
Whilst you should definitely check your local Post Office store to find opening times, you can expect slower service over the Jubilee holiday. Customer frustrations are likely to rise due to the strike, and we may find more people switching to a different courier.
