Easter is a time when many of us want to send cards, parcels and chocolate eggs. But it’s important to remember that most Post Offices in the UK are closed on bank holidays, including Good Friday and Easter Monday to allow their staff some time off too.
So if you want to get treats to grandchildren, or make sure that late-April birthday gets their card on time, it’s best to plan ahead.
-
Good Friday – April 18 – most branches will be closed.
-
Saturday, April 19 – most branches will resume services (but service could be slower than normal due to the previous day’s closure).
-
Easter Sunday – April 20 – most branches will be closed
-
Easter Monday – April 21 – most branches will be closed.
Normal services will resume next Tuesday, April 22 but they might be slower than usual due to a backlog from the long weekend. You can check the opening times for your local branch on the Post Office website by using the Post Office branch finder.

For alternative parcel couriers like Evri and DPD, ParcelShop2Go advises that while the vast majority of couriers don’t actually offer weekend or bank holiday postage you can still drop off your parcels at eligible stores or lockers.
This means you can still dispatch your parcel and have one job ticked off your list before the working week starts, even if they aren’t sent out for another day or two.
It’s also worth checking if the individual drop-off point or locker is open before you travel.
