Are Post Offices open on Good Friday and Easter Monday?

Easter is fast approaching and many Brits will be looking forward to the extended bank holiday weekend. This year, Good Friday falls on April 7, while Easter Monday falls on April 10.

For most workers who work a five-day-a-week shift, the Easter break means they’ll get the chance to rest and recharge their batteries over a period of four consecutive days.

But this also means banks, shops and services will also close or limit their workload so their workers can rest as well, and that includes the postal service.

Services will continue as normal on Saturday, April 8

Royal Mail Post Offices will be closed across the country on Good Friday (April 7), Easter Sunday (April 9) and Easter Monday (April 10), meaning there will be no collection or deliveries at all on those days.

Postal services will however be running as normal on Saturday (April 8). After the Easter break, services will return to normal on Tuesday (April 11).

The Royal Mail website says: “Royal Mail deliver and collect the mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays. However, Royal Mail don’t deliver or collect the mail on bank and public holidays.”

Provided no more strikes are announced, postal services should continue as normal until the next bank holiday on May 1.

In May, services will also halt once more on May 8 for King Charles III’s coronation. There will then be another bank holiday on May 29.
