Britons are being treated to three bank holidays across May – yes, three. Thanks, Charles.

The first of which comes on Monday, May 1 for the Early May bank holiday.

Many of us are sure to use the day to relax or catch up with our nearest and dearest, though others may utilise the time off work to work on their to-do list.

It’s the perfect time for a trip to the post office to post those outstanding parcels – but will it be open on the bank holiday Monday?

Here’s what you need to know.

Are post offices open on the Early May bank holiday Monday?

If you have a very important letter or parcel to send next week, you might have to hold off.

As May 1 is a bank holiday, your local post office may be closed to give workers a well-earned day off.

You will need to check with your local branch to see if their hours differ for the bank holiday.

However, it is also worth noting that Royal Mail will not be doing any collections or deliveries on the bank holiday Monday – so even if your post office is open, Royal Mail will not be operating so you will still need to wait to send any post.
