Are you waiting for a parcel to arrive? Royal Mail has issued a fresh warning over parcel scam

The scam, which claims to be from Royal Mail, says that the package has a delivery fee for a certain amount, for example £1.99. It gives a link to click on, saying failure to do so will result in the package being returned to sender.

Trading standards officers say people must not click on a link which connects to a copycat website run by fraudsters.

If clicked, the link goes to a mocked up website, set up to look like an official Royal Mail site.

It requests personal and payment details. Scammers then use the information to steal your identity or for other cons.

Royal Mail said it would not use such texts, unless specifically requested , and would use a grey card instead to tell people if any fee was required.
