The drugs were found at different times in May and it is understood dealers were sending orders to buyers using the postal service. Pictures posted to social media showed a number of products that were sent, including edibles, sweets and cookies.

Each packet was intercepted by staff at the sorting office in Werrington earlier this week. They were later seized by police officers and the drugs will now be disposed of.

Uploading a photo to social media, Peterborough Police said: “All of this cannabis has been seized by us today from the Royal Mail sorting office at Werrington! About 30 packets of the drug have been intercepted by staff over the last month and will now be disposed of.”

The post got a lot of comments on Facebook with one person joked: “Well, somebody’s plan has gone to pot! What a dope, they’ve made a right hash of that. Was this a joint operation with Royal Mail or did someone grass?”

Another replied with humour and said: “Liked and shared, hope to win”.

One user made a tongue and cheek comment and wrote: “No wonder the post is slow”.

The force has a dedicated web page for anyone who has concerns or information about drugs as well as ways to report them. More details can be found by clicking here.
