‘Arts of the Kingdom – OTOP, Uniting Hearts with Royal Grace 2024’ fair at IMPACT Aug 10-18

Running from August 10 to 18, the fair commemorates the 92nd birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and showcases an extensive array of Thai handicrafts inspired by her initiatives.

Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul recently inaugurated the “Arts of the Kingdom: OTOP, Uniting Hearts with Royal Grace 2024” fair at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Nonthaburi province. Running from August 10 to 18, this fair commemorates the 92nd birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and showcases an extensive array of Thai handicrafts inspired by her initiatives.

During his opening address, Minister Anutin emphasized the fair’s dual purpose: to stimulate the grassroots economy and to celebrate the country’s cultural identity shaped under Queen Sirikit’s patronage. The event serves as a platform for artisans to promote their work and for the public to engage with the nation’s venerable craft traditions.

The ceremony was also a tribute to Thai cultural heritage, featuring performances related to traditional Thai textiles and crafts—a testament to the monarchy’s commitment to cultural preservation. A major highlight was the placement of a symbolic heart of gratitude on the ceremonial platform, symbolizing national appreciation for the Queen Mother’s enduring contributions to the arts.

The event has been a commercial success, generating 67 million baht on the first day. Attendees have the opportunity to explore a curated selection of high-quality products from across Thailand. Additionally, special zones such as the OTOP Artists’ Zone and the “Thai Fabrics for Fun” area enhance the visitor experience by merging cultural exhibitions with opportunities for practical purchases, representing the fair’s blend of tradition and modernity.
