TWO projects run by the local community development trust which tackle social isolation have earned a top award.

Trust Befriending and Supportive Communities have both been awarded Quality in Befriending status from Befriending Networks.

Erin Donnelly, a befriending outreach worker with the trust, said: “A ‘Quality in Befriending’ award recognises the high standard of service we provide to our befrienders and befriendees.

“This means the local community, our funders the HSCP and referring professionals can have full confidence in the service and support we provide.

“This award was made possible following six months of hard work by our team.

“None of this would be possible without our team of amazing volunteers.”

An event is being held at 71/2 John Wood Street in Port Glasgow to celebrate the achievement.

It is on Friday September 29 between noon and 2pm.
