ON May 27, 1940, British soldiers mainly of the Royal Norfolks and Royal Scots regiments were fighting a rearguard defence in the village of Le Paradis in Northern France against the advancing German forces. Their actions were crucial to the successful evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk. Having been cut off from their supply lines, eventually the troops ran out of ammunition and were forced to surrender. They surrendered to a division of the Waffen SS whose badge was the Totenkopf or death’s head. See here, here and here.
In direct contravention of the Geneva Convention, the SS officer in charge had the British men machine-gunned. Those who did not die at once were bayoneted or murdered by small arms fire. Against all odds, two men survived, and were able to identify the SS officer. He was brought to trial at Nuremberg and subsequently executed by hanging. The bravery of the local French people in helping the survivors at great personal risk needs to be honoured as well.
Eighty-two years later and our government is supporting Volodymyr Zelensky’s corrupt puppet regime in Ukraine whose Right sector and Azov Battalion wear the same Totenkopf symbol on their sleeves. Worse, these latter-day (Neo) Nazis, supported by the West against Russia since the end of WW2, have been committing documented atrocities against Russian soldiers and the ethnic Russian population of Eastern Ukraine which has always been their home. The crimes against the civilian population have been going on since 2014.
So my question is this: when did it become acceptable for the British and Scottish governments to dishonour our war dead in this deeply shameful way? Equally, when did it become acceptable to support Nazi atrocities in other countries with British taxpayers’ money?
Boris Johnson has shown consistently that he has no morals or ethics. Our democracy is under attack as is freedom of speech. Any voice that questions the current UK regime is drowned out. The UK media is distracting us with the small beer of Partygate while our politicians sell us out to the WEF and WHO (not forgetting the UN and other tentacles of the globalist world mafia), effectively the Fourth Industrial Reich. If Partygate is not a matter worth resigning over, presumably this insult to those brave souls who gave their today for our tomorrow isn’t either.
Today the last official commemoration of the massacre will take place at Le Paradis. There aren’t many WW2 veterans left. It falls to us then to remember the sacrifice of past generations and to us to ensure that our corrupt, self-seeking politicians are not allowed to repeat the evils of the past. While those of good intent learn not to repeat the mistakes of history, those with malign intent seek to build on their wrongdoing and strive to do even worse in future.
