Barclays has highlighted a crucial £5,000 limit that all customers need to be aware of. This comes after a customer complained about being unable to bank in person, which led them to contact Barclays due to the inconvenience.
A frustrated customer shared an image of a notice on the closed Lord Street branch in Liverpool, explaining that it was undergoing work. The notice informed that the branch would be shut from November 16 to 29 and directed customers to visit other Barclays branches in Birkenhead on Grange Road or in Warrington at Golden Square.
The annoyed customer exclaimed: “Really! So I have a problem paying in cheque and the only way to resolve is to drive to Birkenhead or Warrington.” In response, Barclays apologised for the “troubles” the customer faced with their banking needs.
The support team asked: “Could you please let me know the value of the cheque? Do you have access to the Barclays app? “. They also pointed out that the app allows customers to “deposit sterling cheques up to £5,000 each”, highlighting alternative solutions available, reports the Mirror.
The Barclays team has clarified that individual users are allowed a maximum of four cheque deposits per week through the app, with business savers permitted up to 20 cheques weekly. To assist customers further, they’ve provided a direct link to the Barclays site, which contains detailed instructions on how to deposit cheques using a smartphone.
Additionally, Barclays has pointed out: “You can also pay cheques into the Post Office, if you’re unable to do this via the app and the Post Office is closer to the branches that you’ve mentioned.”
A notice on the closed branch indicated the nearest Post Office is located inside WHSmith on South John Street in Liverpool. For free cash withdrawals, the recommended spot is Santander on Lord Street.
The customer service team didn’t stop there; they’ve also shared a useful link to more information about banking services available at the Post Office.
