Barista praises postman for ‘making her day’ after he throws her parcel through an open WINDOW

Delighted woman praises postman for his ‘really good aim’ after he threw a parcel through an open first-floor WINDOW when nobody was at home

  • Laura Chaisty, 27, arrived home to find a Royal Mail ‘Something For You’ note
  • Slip read: ‘Your top window was wide open. I threw it in there’ with a smiley face
  • Parcel, which contained her fiancé’s vitamin supplements, was sat on their bed

A delighted barista has praised a ‘devoted’ postman who threw her fiancé’s parcel through their first-floor bedroom window when no one was in to accept the delivery.

Laura Chaisty, 27, arrived at her home in Faringdon in Oxfordshire, to find a Royal Mail ‘Something For You’ note had been posted through her front door.

But rather than instructing the barista when she could pick up her parcel from the post office, the slip contained an unusual note: ‘Your top window was wide open. I threw it in there’ followed by a smiley face.

The shocked woman, raced upstairs to find her fiancé Dale Townsend’s package, which contained vitamin supplements, was sitting safely on top of their bed.

Laura has now praised the savvy postman for their ‘really good aim’, and gushed she would like to meet the postie to ‘shake their hand’.

She said: ‘It definitely made my day. I couldn’t believe it. It’s a standard first-storey bedroom window and the windows weren’t fully open, so they’d obviously had to get it under, as opposed to straight through.

‘It was really good aim. It was pretty good going for him to get it through there. Whoever it was, I want to shake their hand. It was amazing.’

The barista then shared the hilarious pictures to her Facebook to show that not all delivery drivers deserve ‘a bit of flak’.

And although the couple can’t stop smiling at the postage note, Laura and Dale said they wish they had caught the incident on camera to see how many shots it took.

Laura said: ‘It was my partner’s gym supplements and you could tell it was a box of tablets of something. They obviously knew it wasn’t fragile.

‘They’re clearly really devoted to delivering everyone’s parcels no matter what. Delivery companies get a bit of flak sometimes, but I thought I’d praise them this time.

‘I’m just devastated we don’t have any CCTV – I would have loved to have watched them try to get it through.

‘I wasn’t expecting the parcel so I wondered what the card was for. When I turned it over and it said our top window was open and they’d thrown it through there, I took a picture because I thought it was so funny.

‘Then I went upstairs and it was just sitting there on the bed. I’ve not heard anything from Royal Mail. I reached out on the towns’ Facebook page hoping to find the post-person.’

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: ‘We are happy to hear that this customer received her parcel safely in this instance. However, we do ask our postmen and women to adhere to our established procedures for delivering items of mail, in order to keep the items we deliver safe and secure.

‘We will be reminding our staff in the Faringdon area of this. Any customers with concerns about their mail should contact Royal Mail Customer Services via royalmail.com, on Twitter @RoyalMailHelp or by calling 03457 740 740 so that we can investigate.’
