BARROW-built submarine HMS Audacious has completed her second Mediterranean patrol.
During the patrol her role was to conduct maritime security operations for the UK and NATO.
After she completed her operations, the Astute-class submarine was partially submerged at the NATO base in Souda Bay, Crete, to undergo maintenance.
Divers flown in from the UK cleaned the hull using specialist equipment that clears barnacles off the exterior while not damaging the black tiles that are key to stealth.
HMS Audacious is the fourth of seven new £1.3bn Astute-class submarines. It was launched from Barrow in 2017 and formally commissioned by the Navy last year.
It is usually stationed at Clyde Naval Base in Scotland but went on to the Mediterranean last year after being loaded with Tomahawk missiles in Gibraltar.
