The store’s opening date has been pushed back, after it was originally scheduled to open in the Malls on April 30 near the Anvil and former Wilko store.
However, due to logistical issues raised by Royal Mail about the collection and delivery of parcels, the opening was delayed indefinitely.
Residents were relieved when the Post Office confirmed that the issues had been resolved, setting a date of July 9 for services to return to the town centre.
The Gazette visited the unit set to house the new branch, in 4 Loddon Mall, to see the progress being made on works to renovate the space.

After noticing the unit was empty just weeks before the scheduled date, the Gazette contacted the Post Office, which confirmed that the opening would be delayed.
The branch will only reopen on August 11, meaning residents will have to wait another month before vital services are restored to the town centre.
The delay means residents in the town will be forced to travel further afield to branches in Oakridge, Watson Way and Abbey Road to use services including sending parcels, withdrawing money and more.
A spokesperson for the Post Office said: “We thank customers for their patience whilst we work to restore Post Office services to the town centre as soon as possible.”
