The application to build a one-bedroom detached house on land next to 2, Malvern View, has been turned down.
Planners said the site is in an area washed over by green belt where new homes are only allowed on rare occasions, where there are special circumstances.
They also said the new home would “erode the openness of the green belt” and that “due to the “constrained triangular shape of the land parcel and proximity of neighbouring dwellings, the proposal would result in a cramped form of development out of character with more spacious residential plots.”
They also said the new home would “enclose land that currently makes an important contribution to the open and spacious character of the street scene and adjoining village green.”
The application, from Mr Bijan Nasri, states that the proposed home would be built on the hardstanding car parking area of 2, Malvern Road and that three new car parking spaces would be provided at the front of the homes.
It states the new home would not result in loss of garden for the existing home and that the hedge at the front would be kept.
It states the new home would be a “modest dwelling on an existing substantial corner plot.”
The application was refused on June 21.
