The incident left the route, near Brownlow Heath, shut for around six hours. Today and Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash that occurred at around 12.30pm yesterday.
Police responded to reports of a crash on the A34 near to its junction with Brownlow Heath Lane. The rider of the motorbike, a 63-year-old man, was taken to hospital with what have been described as ‘serious injuries’.
The driver of the van, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A spokeswoman said: “He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
As reported by StokeonTrentLive yesterday’s closure saw the series of rural lanes off the A34 gridlocked into rush-hour as motorists were diverted from the scene. It also came at a time two lanes were shut on the M6 causing delays around South Cheshire.
