Terrified Boardmasters festival-goers were reportedly left hanging upside-down for 20 minutes after a fairground ride at the event broke down earlier this weekend.
The ride propels revellers round on a giant, one-armed swing with people sat at either end, throwing you upside down as you reach the top. But riders at Boardmasters Festival on Friday evening found they reached the peak of the ride, only to not come back down as the huge swing got stuck.
One thrill-seeker who was queuing for the ride at the time filmed the moment that people were being evacuated from the bottom of the swing, while the group seated at the top were left dangling upside-down.
The man captioned the video: “Apollo 13 broke, with people stuck at the top for 20 minutes.”
The video has been shared more than 500 times since it was posted on TikTok on Friday evening. One person commented: “No, imagine being stuck up there and it starts to move because of the wind…”.
Another wrote: “I saw this happen from my house and I thought the ride was shut.”, and a third even commented: “I was stuck up there.”
Boardmasters Festival has been approached for comment about the incident.
