THE Finance Director of Spain’s Royal Mail has resigned after appearing to boast on WhatsApp about successfully haggling a lower price with a prostitute.
Roberto Ducay was caught out after sending a picture of a woman showering alongside the message: “Today’s catch, spectacular.” to a Spanish Association of Directors WhatsApp group.
He then sent a second screen grab with a conversation which started with the sex worker saying she would charge 200 euros to visit and messages apparently sent by the finance boss which read: “It’s not what we agreed.
“You come to me and it’s 150 euros full stop.
“I’ve got three who could come for 130 euros but I don’t want them.”
The response from the unidentified woman was: ‘Vale voy’ – English for ‘Okay, I’m coming.’
Ducay, appointed in November 2018 to his managerial post at Correos, the Spanish equivalent of Royal Mail, went after the sceengrab was made public by Spanish newspaper ABC.
It was not immediately clear if he sent his messages by mistake to the wrong group.
Juan Carlos Gallego, president of the Madrid board of the Spanish Association of Directors, reacted to the sex screengrab by removing him from the WhatsApp group ahead of his resignation.
He told fellow group members: “I’m sorry such a regrettable incident has happened and obliged us to take such a drastic step as this.”
Ducay, whose full job title at Correos was Director of Finance and Expansion, claimed in an interview late last year when asked when the company would be in 2025: “We will be a much more multinational firm and have more presence in more regions and countries around the world.”
He spent 12 years working for Arthur Andersen-Deloitte before joining the Spanish postal and delivery firm.
