Christmas will be soon be over and all the treats will have been eaten – meaning another trip to the supermarket is needed. Even though the cupboards are bare – don’t fret – as some your favourite supermarkets have opted to stay open this Boxing Day.
December 26 is filled with the usual rush to find a bargain in the sales but it’s also a day to fill up your trolley for a post-Christmas buffet or a boring Monday night dinner. Either way, we have rounded up all the stores who are staying open for Boxing Day.
We have listed the opening and closing times for most Leicestershire branches, but they may vary so don’t forget to double check online if you have any doubts. Many supermarket websites have a locator tool to find out the exact times you can visit a store near you.

While supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl have opted to remain shut, here are the opening hours of the supermarket chains in Leicestershire who will open their doors to customers on Boxing Day.
Asda
Sainsbury’s
- Sainsbury’s stores will be open from 10am until 5pm
Tesco
Morrisons
Morrisons stores will open at 9am trade up until to 6pm
Waitrose
While the Waitrose website says stores will remain shut on Boxing Day, with the exception of those in Welcome Break motorway service stations and Shell forecourts – some of which will be open 24 hours.
Aldi and Lidl – closed
Both of the big budget chains have decided not to open for Boxing Day.
