Footage from October 30 at 8.33pm shows the bespectacled employee sat in his bright red vehicle during a shift.

He is seen calmly taking a long drag as he heats the device under his mouth with a lighter, sending sparks flying.

After 30 seconds, the mailman rocks back in his seat before packing away the kit and gingerly leaving the vehicle.

He walks to the back of his van, looking around to see if he has been spotted, before opening up the rear doors and preparing to deliver a parcel.

The film, captured by a neighbourhood doorbell camera at an unknown location, stunned viewers after it was posted online.

One commented: “Postman Crack, Postman Crack and his black and white Khat.”

Another joked: “This crack is First Class.”

Drug pipes are used to heat a substance — tobacco, crack, cannabis or heroin — to produce fumes.

Some viewers dubbed him “Postman Pot” — suggesting he was smoking cannabis.

But one commented: “The lack of smoke/vapours, plus what appears to be a long hold after inhalation, points to crack.”

Posties are banned from smoking in uniform in their van during a shift — even cigarettes.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We took immediate steps to investigate. The individual was an agency worker and is no longer engaged by Royal Mail.”
