Breathtaking giant wave of thousands of white doves at Nuneaton shopping centre

A breathtaking wave of white doves has started to take shape at a Nuneaton shopping centre. Much of the ceiling of the Abbeygate Shopping Centre has been covered by the incredible sight.

Dubbed the ‘Flight for peace’, the art installation was brainchild of The Makery, which is based within the shopping centre. Its founder, Sioux Watkins, said it was an emotional experience putting it together.

The installation is in place but more handmade white origami doves are set to be added to it over the coming days. That will come ahead of the arrival of the towering Knife Angel in nearby Market Place.

Many of the doves have messages on them and some moved Sioux to tears. She said: “It was the most emotional incredible 48 hours ever.

“Myself and all the volunteers and cried buckets reading and installing the beautiful doves everyone has contributed. Many prayers for lost loved ones, many words for peace and many affirmations.”

It has already caught the eye of shoppers and many more are set to contribute to the piece of art, which has been added just weeks after another piece of art – a stunning new mural – was created at the shopping centre.
