Burnley Central to have parcel delivery locker installed

It follows a deal between the train operating company and Quadient, who operate parcel lockers at more than 20,000 locations across the world.

Parcel Pending by Quadient is a growing network of smart lockers that are used for deliveries from carriers including Royal Mail, DPP, Evri, and UPS – and for new services such as key drop-offs with Keynest across the UK.

By the end of September, lockers are set to be installed at Burnley Central, having already been installed at Burnley Manchester Road.

Lockers are also set to be installed at stations in Greater Manchester, including Bolton and Hag Fold.

A further 30 locations across the Northern network are currently being identified, with a view to lockers being installed by spring 2025.

Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “Our stations are at the heart of the communities they serve and as such they are the perfect base for other popular services that people require.

“Access to parcel delivery lockers at stations is something our customers have told us makes their life easier, as they combine travelling with collecting or dropping off their parcels.”

Katia Bourgeais-Crémel, director of Lockers Automation Europe at Quadient, said: “Railways like Northern play a crucial role in connecting communities, and Parcel Pending by Quadient’s open network lockers connect carriers, retailers, consumers, locker hosts and local businesses to send and receive parcels in a reliable, 24/7, convenient and secure manner.
