Bury North MP James Frith has been to the sorting office in Bury to meet staff during their busiest period.
Meanwhile, Bury South MP Mr Wakeford went along to Radcliffe Delivery Office to see the dedicated team there for himself.
Royal Mail deals with around double the normal volume of letters and parcels at this time of year.
Mr Frith said: “Thanks to the team in Bury and the Communication Workers Union for welcoming me to the sorting office to see first-hand the hard work that goes into ensuring Christmas is delivered in Bury North.”
He acknowledged the “120 strong team” who “work hard all year round”, but particularly during the festive season.
Mr Frith said he was pleased to hear from staff and union representatives about how the ‘epic festive operation’ is handled.
He said: “I was pleased to say a personal thanks to the team and make a delivery myself of homemade brownies.
“Royal Mail staff work exceptionally hard at this time of year, so if you see your local postie over the coming days do make sure you say a big Christmas thank you.”
Over in Radcliffe, Mr Wakeford spoke to customer operations manager Sean Collins about Royal Mail’s strategy to continue to make sending and receiving parcels as convenient as possible over the busy period by adding more choice.
This includes services like Parcel Collect, where posties pick up parcels from customers at the doorstep, and offering more ways to drop off parcels at convenient times and locations.
Across the UK, Royal Mail has recruited 16,000 temporary workers to help its 85,000 posties sort the additional mail and increasing number of parcels expected over the festive period.
Almost 4,000 new vans, trucks and trailers are being added to the fleet in time for Christmas.
Radcliffe Delivery Office has hired three recruits and three extra vehicles for the Christmas period to meet increased demand for deliveries in the local area.
Mr Collins said: “It was great to have Christian visit our delivery office, and to show him how we are gearing up for our peak period.
“We are pulling out all the stops to deliver Christmas for our customers.”
Mr Wakefield added: “Royal Mail is an iconic part of Christmas in the UK – it wouldn’t be the same without our posties!
“I’ve got a newfound appreciation for what they do after seeing how the operation works on the inside.”
