A busy Post Office is to close unless a new manager can be found to run it. The postmaster of the Tower Hill branch, off Walsall Road, in Perry Barr is reportedly retiring in the Autumn.
The office is scheduled to close on October 31 unless a new person can be found to take it on. In this event, customers will be forced to use the Thornbridge Road or Walsall Road branches, both of which are situated around a mile away.
The Post Office made the announcement in a letter. They said a vacancy is being advertised on their website and encourage anyone interested to get in touch.

The letter said: “We are writing to inform you that, regrettably, following the resignation of the postmaster, the above branch will be closing on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The provision of a Post Office service to our customers in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore services in the area as soon as possible.
“We would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running a branch locally on our behalf. The vacancy is currently being advertised on our website www.runapostoffice.co.uk and applications will be carefully considered.
“If you are aware of any interested parties, please do share the link with them. I would like to assure you that we are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.
“In exploring this, it is important that any future service is sustainable for the person operating the service, and for Post Office Limited.”
The Perry Barr Liberal Democrats Team said: “We’ve received some disturbing news from the Post Office about the Tower Hill post office. This is to close on October 31st as the postmaster is retiring. However, we hope it is temporary.”
