Cafe to open in Edinburgh scheme at former site of community Post Office

A new cafe is set to open in Drum Brae at the site of a former Post Office.

Located on Duart Crescent, the unit has been under renovation for the past few months, with locals reportedly seeing workies coming in and out of the store.

It is not known when Urban Coffee will open but it is claimed that the business appears to be putting the finishing touches to the space.

One local, who approached someone in the cafe as they carried out work, claimed the eatery will serve up hot and cold food as well as beverages.

Duart Crescent recently saw both the Passion chip shop and Anna’s Chinese takeaway close down.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It is amazing the community is finally getting a cafe on this side of Clermiston.

“It can feel a bit like a forgotten community up here with a load of food businesses shutting down.

“There is plenty down in Corstorphine but not a lot for us up on the hill.

“It is exciting to see someone have confidence in the community and invest in the area by opening a business.

“After the chippy and Chinese closing, it will be a breath of fresh air to see a new eatery opening.

“I wish them all the best and can’t wait to go in once they open.”
