Cambridgeshire post office to close for 17 weeks with nearest branch one hour walk away

A Post Office is set to close for 17 weeks, with the nearest branch an hour’s walk away. Bar Hill Post Office will be temporarily closed during the refurbishment of Bar Hill Library, where the branch is based.

The Post Office will be closed from August 30 at 12.15pm. It won’t reopen until after Christmas on Monday, December 29.

The post office will have to close for safety reasons during the extensive building works.

Sally Ingold, Post Office Area Change Manager, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work. The safety of our customers is of paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it is necessary for the service to close temporarily.”

The nearest branches to the site will be Long Stanton Post Office and Oakington Post Office, which are around an hour’s walk away.
