A campaign group has stepped up its opposition to the proposed A57 link roads.

High Peak Green New Deal has printed 10,000 leaflets and many of these will be delivered by Royal Mail over the next couple of weeks.

Volunteers have already delivered some of the leaflets and followed it up with door knocking to see what people think about the plans.

The group are promoting an alternative £10 million plan, developed by the CPRE, to provide safer walking and cycling, improved bus services, better integration of public transport and a ban on heavy lorries on the A628.

The campaigners say the new road, which bypasses part of Mottram, will do nothing to help improve the traffic in Hollingworth and Tintwistle.
