Canada Post suspends mail delivery on street in View Royal after employee attacked by dogs

Canada Post says it has temporarily suspended mail delivery to a street in View Royal after an employee was attacked by two loose dogs.

The company confirmed the incident to NowMedia, and said the attack happened on Sept. 28, 2023 on Prince Robert Drive.

“This is a serious cause of concern for our employees and for our customers,” a spokesperson said. “We hope to resume delivery as soon as possible when it is safe to do so.”

The Capital Regional District (CRD) is currently investigating the incident, and mail delivery will remain suspended until the investigation is complete.

Canada Post added that the CRD will also advise when a local operations team can visit affected customers to provide them with letters notifying them of the situation and where to pick up their mail in the meantime.

“At Canada Post, we are proud to deliver our customers’ packages and mail. That’s why we need to ensure our employees can do it safely. This is our number one priority and responsibility as an employer to every employee,” the company said.

“Our employees encounter dogs every day, and while they love them, we understand dogs can sometimes be protective of their homes and families.”
Canada Post asks people to help keep employees safe by keeping your dog inside, in a fenced yard, or tied up far away from the front door or mailbox.
