Changes made to new homes at prime York site

CHANGES have been made to several new homes being built at a prime York site.

Several eagle-eyed readers of The Press spotted that newly fitted lintels above the front doors of homes on the new Persimmon Bootham Crescent development had been exposed ready for removal.

Persimmon says the changes to the homes, which front on to Grosvenor Road,  have been made to comply with building regulations and there were no defects.

A Persimmon Yorkshire spokesperson said: “A few lintels are being replaced to an increased specification – this will be completed within the next two weeks.”

Back in June, the first of three streets on the new housing development at the former home of York City – was named Alf Patrick Court after legendary York City goalscorer Alf Patrick who died aged 100 in 2021.

About 93 homes are currently either built or in the process of being built at the site with prices ranging from £240,000 – £540,000.

Persimmon has said that there will also be 19 properties transferred to the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust to be made available for social rent and discount sale.

A wide mix of properties will be available including, two, three, and four bedroom houses as well as one and two bedroom apartments providing plenty of options for homebuyers at a range of prices, which will be released in due course.

As The Press first reported back in December 2022, following submissions put forward by fans of the club, York-based housebuilder Persimmon got the go-ahead from City of York Council and Royal Mail to name streets, buildings and walkways after former City players.
